Tab General


Under "Tools → Settings → View → Viewer" in the tab "General" the following settings are offered for the viewer and/or the quick viewer.

These settings are applied for the:

  • Viewer, if the window "Configure viewer" was opened via the "Viewer" button
  • Quick viewer, if the window "Configure viewer" was opened via the "Quick viewer" button,
    or if it was opened via the "Viewer" button and the setting "Use same settings for viewer and quick viewer" is checked.



File types

Ignore-List

The further settings ignore all file types listed in this edit field (no view for files from this list).

Type Text

All file types listed in this edit field are opened as text files.

Type RTF

All file types listed in this edit field are opened as RTF text files.

Rich Text Format (RTF) is a file format for text. It provides a basis for the interchange of text between different word processing programs and even different operating systems.

Type Image

All file types listed in this edit field are opened as image files.

Type Media

All file types listed in this edit field are opened as media files (audio, video).

Windows preview

All file types listed in this edit field are opened using Vista or higher as windows preview. For .pdf and all windows office files is no plugin needed.

Type Internet/Office

All file types listed in this edit field are opened as internet/Office files. Internet Explorer with its installed add-ons (MS Office, PDF, etc.) serves as the viewer plugin.

PDF

If this option is checked, all .PDF-files are opened by the internal FreeCommander PDF-program, irrespective of whether or not .PDF is listed in an edit field above.

EPUB

If this option is checked, all .EPUB-files are opened by the internal FreeCommander PDF-program, irrespective of whether or not .EPUB is listed in an edit field above.

Auto-detect text files

If this setting is checked, all files are considered to be text files if they fulfill the following requirements:

  • Their file extension is listed in no edit field above.
  • Their fist 1000 characters contain no control characters.

Auto-detect OEM encoding

If this setting is checked, FreeCommander tries to read the OEM encoding of text files in order to follow their specific linguistic characteristics.

Document title

The following settings are related to the document title:

Show title bar

If this setting is checked, a title bar is shown at the top of the viewer.

Font

After clicking the "Font" button, the font of the title can be defined.

Background color

This setting specifies the background color of the title bar.
